  1. HUGE fallacy in your video, Alexa home controls can be accessed with smartphone or touchscreen of an Echo w/screen (Echo Show).

  2. Can I make Alexa my Personal Assistant instead of Google Assistant on my Tablet without needing to buy the external equipment please?
I’m 70 years old. I don’t know how these things work.

  3. You can load the Alexa app on your iPhone or iPad or windows pc and control your smart devices. I do it fro m my iPad all the time.

  4. Like your review of both devices, but totally disagree with the google upside. Amazon blows it always in so many critical features of automation. After all, that’s what it’s all about!

  5. Hey handler who hates poor people I am listening too my neighbors Alexa I bet you can’t guess who the artist is its a secret.😁👁🕵

  6. Thanks for this really interesting and informative video. It’s been 8 months already and I wonder if your preference has changed since "matter" has been out. Would you still choose the Google ecosystem?

  7. Also I am building a new house and offcourse I wan’t it to be fll smart. Would you suggest having Echo Dot 5 devices in every room and for example in the living room and or masterbedroom a google nest hub screen? For security I will be using Wyze cams, I love those. Would like your opninion on Wyze. And lighting I will be using Govee through out the whole house. Still looking for some good IR blasters to be able to turn on my split unit AC’s. Ansd also good smart doorlock for front and backdoor.

  8. It is hard for me and my family to understand what you are trying to say because you talk so fast. Please slow down and give more physical and verbal examples as you are saying a feature so we can see what you are talking about. Also, is the firmware or anything to update and upgrade ever year on either?

  9. Edge processing is the way forward! Mediatek’s dedication to faster responses and enhanced security is a game-changer for voice assistants.

  10. I’ve kind of adopted your model of using both. This way you don’t miss out on any of the functions. I always thought it had to be all one brand and it doesn’t. It’s not like you can only set up a product once or on one echo system. I have an Alexa Echo Show as kind of my main hub or what I speak to the most but I’m thinking of switching that to google cause it does seem like their screen products are a little better. I think Google gives me a better answer to when I ask it a question as well (and yes I even changed my Alexa to use google web browser for answers).

  11. I have the echo 15 and no ads ever pop up. I think that’s a sign on thing when you buy at a special price you agreeing to the ads. I bought a a kindle that way and had to agree to ads for 2 years.

  12. Thanks for this. I recently started using Alexa and I felt like I completely betrayed my family due to the fact that they’ve all been Google people. (Currently, they have a google home near the kitchen, a chrome cast in the living room, and my sister has been thinking about getting a nest mini.) After using my echo dot for a month, I can say finally it’s TRASHHHH! It’s terrible in multiple areas, like alarms. They literally go off at the lowest volume possible, which does NOT help me wake up. Also, their collection of music is terrible, while google runs off of YouTube music, which has much more music. Literally all of amazons devices go bad all the sudden. I understand all technology goes bad, but we’ve had the google home and chromecast since we moved houses and our fire stick barely survived a year. Oh! And don’t even get me started on the ads. Definitely switching to a nest hub 2nd gen soon and trashing the echo.,It’s just kinda sad that Amazon is barely doing anything about this.

  13. I like your channel and yes I also subscribed. I have been using Alexa Eco system. But as far as I know I can tell Alexa to turn on my porch light for one hour. And I think I can also schedule future tasks. I am from Suriname (South America) a Dutch speaking country. So if ever I would ave a change of heart to Google it’s because Google understands Dutch, and we speak Dutch so that is actually a biggy. But I have grown attached to Alexa. And the routines etc are insane! If Alexa introduces Dutch language to the system it would be perfect and that is where I would stay. I believ both will only get better in time.

  14. Hi Steve, how does the Google Nest hub have better voice command response than Echo devices? Do you know if Eufy cameras are supported on the Google Nest hub? Thanks!

  15. i"m new on your channel but i’ve gotten valid useful information from your channel so far.. thanks for bringing this up.

  16. I used to be a Google geek but they gave me so many reasons to dump them and I have switched over to Alexa. Google is so far behind Amazon by a mile it’s not even fair to compare the two anymore.

  17. For me interaction is the key. All the rest of the features will be improved. Like turning on the light whenever you want. I just ordered alexa to turn the light in two minutes and she did it. So, the key question is, which one is the smartest? Alexa’s most common answer is…mmm, I’m not sure!

  18. Many of the things that you said cannot be done with the Amazon devices are quite simple using routines and scenes. I think you probably need to take and study a little more of how they automations and all of that work before you give a definitive it can’t be done.
One thing I think you might’ve missed in this comparison is talking about the fact that the Amazon ecosystem is highly dependent on the Internet, while googles ecosystem will work or most devices will still work without the Internet, so that gives you quite a bit of difference in usability Especially if you have an area where Internet may go pop in and pop out just saying

  19. You lost me @ "preferring chromecast." I’m just starting up with home automation, and kitted out my home with google hubs etc. I’ve lived with this for a year, and looking to move to Amazon. On the issue of chromecast vs firestick, the latter wins hands down (I have tried both). The chromecast was buggy, unresponsive and didn’t play nicely at all with its own ecosystem. The firestick is very reliable, zippy and you can sideload your own apps. Going to buy a dot to road-test amazon, but I suspect it’s going to outshine google crappy products hands down.

  20. Google is better, but it’s frustrating that they have made almost no improvements in its core functionality since it launched. It still trips over basic questions, or if you don’t ask certain things in a very specific way.

  21. I have motion sensor light switches in my basement . I don’t like not knowing if there is unauthorized movement down there . I personally don’t think is necessary to have it voice control. Kids play to much.

  22. I just asked Alexa to turn my lights off in 5 minutes and it said "Ok, I’ll turn off the lights in 5 minutes". 5 minutes later the lights went off. My much cheaper Sengled lights have on/off brightness and color integrated right into Alexa.
